Population served
All ages (children and adults), anyone with a communication impairment.

Scale

Services provided
Assessment – We offer a national, specialist AAC assessment service to both adults and children. Assessments are carried out over several visits in the client’s locality, and involve the client him/herself, their family and other carers, education staff, and any other relevant professionals involved with the client.

Training and education – We run courses both at SCTCI and on an outreach basis, including the AAC module at the University of Strathclyde.

Loan – Our loan bank of equipment is for assessment only; we use this equipment in our assessments and we lend equipment to our clients on a trial basis as part of our assessment process. In conjunction with the CHAT Service, we also have a limited library of equipment available to lend to professionals to assist with their own AAC assessment. Our standard loan period is 4 weeks.

Research and development – We are involved in a range of both formal and less formal research and development activities.
