The Communication Matters International AAC Conference is the UK’s leading annual AAC event.

Over the course of four days researchers, professionals, suppliers and AAC users, their families and carers will come together for a diverse programme events.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Identity’

We welcome abstract submission linked to the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and, where possible, bring in the concept of identity.

We encourage presentations from all in the AAC community including professionals, researchers and supporters, particularly AAC users and family members.

Pre-Conference Relaxed Exhibition: on the afternoon of 7th September, we will be providing a time for conference delegates and the community who need a quieter and less busy space to meet with AAC and AT suppliers.

International AAC Conference: we look forward to welcoming ~500 attendees on the 8th-9th September for full days including 80+ presentations, workshops and posters, an exhibition of the leading AAC and AT suppliers, networking and more.

AAC Awards: on the evening of the 8th September we will be hosting our biennial event celebrating all forms of communication, the people who use AAC, the professionals, families and suppliers that support them. We are certain the awards, dinner and dancing will prove to be a fun and exciting night for all!

Post-Conference Research Study Day: join us on the 10th of September for a day of research with two parallel sessions; The Becoming an Aided Communicator project team will present on ‘Developing tasks for observing aided language comprehension and production’ and Professor Bronwyn Hemsley from the University of Technology Sydney with Professor Annalu Waller, Dr Tom Griffiths and Rohan Slaughter from the University of Dundee will present on AAC and AI.
