AACKnowledge Website News
Since the relaunch of our website, we’ve received several enquiries about the AACKnowledge site.
In 2013, Communication Matters, in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University, launched the AACknowledge website: an online AAC evidence base that presented information on the latest research in AAC in a variety of accessible formats. The site was made possible by grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund and ran for five years, providing visitors with evidence summaries, factsheets and FAQs on a variety of topics. In addition, the site was regularly updated with Plain English summaries of new research papers and their findings, to help inform users and families, as well as guiding professional practice.
In 2018, at the end of the intended duration of the project, the decision was taken by Trustees to archive the site, meaning that it was no longer being actively updated. We are pleased to announce, however, that much of the key content (including the FAQs and Factsheets) can now be found on our main website under the dedicated Research section. We hope that bringing this content onto our main site and integrating it with our other resources will encourage more people to engage with research through having access to this content and to make use of it to enhance their understanding of research in the field. All the other information from the site has been archived offline in the Communication Matters offices.
The Trustees and Friends of Communication Matters would like to thank the team at Manchester Metropolitan University, with particular thanks to Judith Chapman, for all their hard work and dedication to this project.
