Locality 1 and 2 in Suffolk PCT and Waveney area of Great Yarmouth and Waveney PCT.

Population served 

Children and young people aged 0-19

Services provided 

- Assessment
- Active assistance in the adaptation of any suitable aid/system
- Provide up to date information on a range of issues related to the field augmentative and alternative communication
- Long-term loan of appropriate communication aids
- Ongoing training and support to children with loan equipment and to their family and the relevant professionals involved
- Manage, on behalf of Suffolk Local Authority, the organisation of warranties and repairs of equipment on loan

Staffing 

- Principal Speech & Language Therapist: full time, term-time only
- Secretary: 13 hours weekly, term-time only
- Specialist Technician: 7 hours weekly, term-time only
- Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist: 0.1 WTE
- Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist: 5 sessions weekly; 3 sessions funded via service level agreement with Education Authority

Referral process 

Referral should come through the child’s own Speech and Language Therapist or other relevant professional working with the child. Information for the assessment form will be sent out by SCARC and must be completed in consultation with parents/carer and other key members of the team. Parent/carer must give signed consent for the referral.
